Waste heat recovery: the Croda case study

Croda (ex. Alban Muller) aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. They have entrusted Dametis with the task of defining the priorities for action and monitoring the project to recover waste heat.

Focus on Dametis support for Croda (ex Alban Muller) in Fontenay-sur-Eure

Emmanuelle Beutron

We found that the energy consumption threshold of one unit was very high, and thanks to MyDametis we realized that one pump was consuming more than normal. So we were able to correct the problem, and save energy in the process.

Key figures

The R&D laboratory and production site are located in Fontenay-sur-Eure, in the heart of Cosmetic Valley. It’s here that Croda teams (ex. Alban Muller) develop solutions based on plant extracts and tested active ingredients to offer natural alternatives to synthetic products.

The Fontenay site comprises two buildings. One is a pharmaceutical building, dedicated to the manufacture of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products based on plant extracts. The other is a cosmetics building where natural cosmetic ingredients and care products for face, body and hair are manufactured.

Energy savings in industry: a critical issue

Their needs :

Heat recovery from new refrigeration systems

Protecting and securing cold production

Control and maintain site processes after work has been completed

Our solutions:

Work carried out as part of an EPC (Energy Performance Contract):

  • Replacement of obsolete chillers
  • Recovery of waste heat to heat premises and recover domestic hot water for process requirements.

Deployment of our EMS software, MyDametis :

Identification of new energy optimization levers (reduction of chilled water flow, electrification of steam usage).

Energy audit with action plan and implementation of works
