How does our client Toshiba adapt its means of production and plans to reduce its energy bill by 4 million euros in 2023?

Posted on: 4 January 2023

Analyze, make production simulations at different time slots, on different lines simultaneously, perform data history, are examples of actions that Toshiba implemented at the end of 2022 with the help of MyDametis to limit the impact on energy costs.

MyDametis, a decision-making support tool

Mohamed Mebtoul, Toner Department Director at Toshiba, explains the importance of such a tool for to take decisions “MyDametis allowed us to understand to the nearest Kwh how much we consume compared to our production or even how we consume when we are stopped. You can also make distribution simulations Kwh on the production lines and knowing when it is best to run our processes.” This work of taking a step back is essential for opt for effective solutions.
Among the decisions taken, the most important are the reorganization of working hours : concentrating the means and production staff of a 3X8 system into a new 2X8 system at night and 2x24 hours at weekends to benefit from off-peak rates. This new organization should make it possible to switch from a ratio of 35% HC to more than 80% HC and to promote load shedding during peak hours on very cold days. These decisions will allow drastically reduce the energy bill of the toner production plant : -twenty%.

“MyDametis allowed us to understand to the Kwh how much we consume in relation to our production or even how we consume when we are stopped. »

MyDametis, a tool to identify energy-intensive workstations

“76% of the LEDs have already been installed. The savings are estimated by the software at around €100 per year.”

Another important finding identified using the MyDametis energy management platform is the proportion of lighting : 70% of the total consumption of one of their buildings. A simulation has been carried out and makes it possible to estimate a reduction of 30% if the entire building is lit with LEDs.

Mr. Mebtoul adds “After analysis made by Dametis, it was more than convincing to replace our energetically obsolete system with LEDs, we did everything ourselves and in one month, 76% of the LEDs have already been installed. The savings are estimated by the software at around €100 per year.”

MyDametis also has highlighted actions which, taken end to end, also represent a 15% reduction in consumption. These include: regulating air leaks, readjusting compressors, shutting down equipment that is not running.

Dametis Expertise, to support an energy sobriety plan

Also, experts from Dametis provided support on a sobriety plan with "common" actions for all the company's employees: opting for equipment to be loaded at night, running the hot water tank at off-peak hours, renewing the display to raise awareness of switching off the lights, switching off computers and not leaving them on standby and many others.

“In the long term, we would like to continue to improve our Fatal Energy Project started in 2021 in order to reduce our heating gas consumption and reach -80% in 2023”.
