How is our customer Etria Manufacturing adapting its means of production and planning to reduce its energy bill by 4 million euros by 2023?

Analysing and simulating production at different times and on different lines simultaneously, and using historical data, are just some of the actions that Etria Manufacturing (formerly Toshiba) is implementing at the end of 2022 with the help of MyDametis to limit the impact on energy costs.
MyDametis, a decision-making tool
Mohamed Mebtoul, Toner Department Manager at Etria Manufacturing France, explains the importance of such a tool for decision-making: “MyDametis has enabled us to understand to the nearest Kwh how much we consume in relation to our production, or how we consume when we’re stopped. We can also run simulations of Kwh distribution on production lines and know when it’s best to run our processes.”
Taking a step back is essential if we are to opt for effective solutions.
Among the decisions taken, the most important are the reorganization of working hours: concentrating production resources and personnel from a 3X8 system to a new 2X8 night system and 2x24h weekends to benefit from off-peak tariffs.
This new organization should make it possible to switch from a ratio of 35% HC to more than 80% HC and to promote peak-load shaving on very cold days.
These decisions will drastically reduce the toner plant’s energy bill: -25%.
“MyDametis has enabled us to understand to the nearest Kwh how much we consume compared to our production or even how we consume when we’re stopped.”

MyDametis, a tool for identifying energy-intensive workstations
“76% of the LEDs have already been installed. Savings are estimated by the software at around €100,000 per year.”
Another important finding identified with the help of the energymanagement platform, MyDametis, is the proportion represented by lighting: 70% of the total consumption of one of their buildings. A simulation has been carried out to estimate a 30% reduction if the entire building is lit with LEDs.
Mr. Mebtoul adds, “After Dametis’s analysis, it was more than convincing to replace our energy-obsolete system with LEDs. We did everything ourselves, and within a month, 76% of the LEDs had already been installed. The savings are estimated by the software at around €100,000 a year.”
MyDametis has also highlighted actions which, taken together, also represent a 15% reduction in consumption. These include regulating air leaks, readjusting compressors and switching off equipment that is not running.
Dametis Expertise, to help you achieve energy savings
Dametis’ experts also provided support for a sobriety plan with “common” actions for all company employees: opting to charge equipment at night, running the hot water tank at off-peak times, renewing signage to raise awareness of switching off lights, switching off computers and not leaving them on standby, and much more.
“In the long term, we would like to continue improving our Fatal Energy Project started in 2021 to reduce our heating gas consumption and reach -80% in 2023.”
