Analyzing, simulating production at different time slots, on different lines simultaneously, performing data history, are examples of actions that Toshiba implemented by the end of 2022 with the assistance of MyDametis to limit the impact on energy costs.

MyDametis, a decision support tool

Mohamed Mebtoul, Director of the Toner Department at Toshiba, explains the importance of such a tool to make informed decisions: “MyDametis has allowed us to understand to the exact kWh how much we consume compared to our production, or even how we consume when we are stopped. We can also simulate the distribution of kWh on production lines and know when it is best to operate our processes.”

This step back is essential to choose effective solutions.

Among the decisions made, the most important ones are the restructuring of working hours: concentrating the resources and production staff from a 3X8 system into a new 2X8 night shift and 2x24h weekend shift to take advantage of off-peak hours rates.
This new organization aims to transition from a 35% off-peak ratio to over 80% off-peak and to promote load shedding during peak hours on very cold days.

These decisions will significantly reduce the energy bill of the toner production plant: -25%.

MyDametis, a tool to identify energy-intensive positions

“76% of LEDs have already been installed. The software estimates savings of around €100,000 per year.”

Another important finding identified using the energy management platform MyDametis is the proportion represented by lighting: 70% of the total consumption of one of their buildings. A simulation was conducted and estimates a 30% reduction if the entire building is illuminated with LED.

Mr. Mebtoul adds, “After analysis carried out by Dametis, it was more than convincing to replace our energetically obsolete system with LEDs. We did everything ourselves and in one month, 76% of the LEDs have already been installed. The software estimates savings of around €100,000 per year.”

MyDametis has also highlighted actions which, when combined, also represent a 15% decrease in consumption. Among these: regulating air leaks, readjusting compressors, turning off equipment that is not in use.

Dametis Expertise, to support on an energy sobriety plan

In addition, Dametis experts have supported a “sobriety plan” with “common” actions for all employees of the company: choosing to charge equipment at night, running the hot water tank during off-peak hours, updating displays to raise awareness about turning off lights, shutting down computers instead of leaving them on standby, and many more.
